Citizenship refusals — typically for failure to meet the physical presence requirement or on prohibited grounds — are appealable to the Federal Court. Revocation proceedings, where IRCC alleges the citizenship was obtained by fraud or misrepresentation, carry the most serious consequence in Canadian immigration law — loss of citizenship and potential deportation.
