I was Injured in an accident while being a passenger in an Uber, can I make a claim for accident benefits?

If you have been injured in an accident while being a passenger in an Uber and do not have personal automobile insurance or are not covered under any other automobile insurance coverage, you may be eligible to make a claim for accident benefits through Intact insurance.

On July 6, 2017, policy of insurance provided by Intact Insurance for Uber came into effect.  Under the Intact Policy, from the moment the Uber app is turned on to the moment passengers exits the vehicle, all passengers, drivers, and vehicle owners in Ontario using Uber are covered by Intact.

If the Uber driver was at-fault in causing the accident, any passenger or third party injured as a result the accident, has the right to sue the driver in tort up to the policy limits of $2 million coverage provided by Intact.
